Bringing the Northwest home
Sunset is one of the hidden gems of the magazine world. A true lifestyle magazine--part shelter mag, part travel mag, part food mag--Sunset never fails to produce a vision of life in the West that is inspiring yet practical, beautiful without being ostentatious.
During the decade-plus I lived outside of the Pacific Northwest, Sunset was my window back to my beloved region. Whenever I felt homesick for the the beauty and bounty of the Northwest, all I had to do was reach for the thick stack I kept next to our comfiest chair. I'd pull an issue and lose myself in the articles and lush photography. I've lost count of the ways Sunset has influenced the look of our home and garden, and their online recipe library is my tried-and-true first stop when I'm looking for new dishes.
Sunset may bill itself as a guide for "living in the West," but no matter where you live it's worth checking out if you appreciate a laid-back approach to beautiful design and a love for the outdoors. Sure, the article about popping over to the Washington coast for a weekend may not be so useful. But the rest will surely inspire.
