Easy homemade baby food. Really.
Today's post is about not buying something. Baby food, that is.
I didn't go the homemade baby food route with my first child. It seemed like way too much time and energy to spend when there was perfectly good organic jarred food available. And, honestly? I had no idea how to go about making baby food and the idea of buying a cookbook that I would use for a handful of months seemed a little over the top.
Then a friend tipped me off to Wholesome Baby Food. The down-to-earth website lays out all the same information that's in those baby food guides, only it does it for free. Using their tips and recipes, I gave making my own baby food a shot with our second child. I was surprised at how easy it was. No special equipment needed--just our oven and stovetop, food processor, blender, and ice cube trays. And the money we saved was fantastic. If I have any complaint about the site, it's that it is so packed with information that it can be a little hard to navigate sometimes. But that's a pretty small trade-off for such a useful resource.
And when your kiddo is ready to move on to big kid food, the sister site Wholesome Toddler Food provides toddler-friendly meal suggestions and sample toddler menus. Meaning they've pretty much got your back until pre-school.
