Buying a few minutes of peace through art

Coloring wallet by Bits N PiecesMy three-year old found a coloring wallet in his Easter basket this year. (I can't imagine what smart, pretty mama bunny put it there, ahem...) He hasn't stopped playing with it since.

Etsy abounds with traveling crayon organizers in all colors and sizes, but the coloring wallets from Yamhill, Oregon shop Bits 'n Pieces stand ahead of the pack. The tri-fold design keeps the crayons from marking up the notepad when it's closed. A center pocket provides a place to tuck his pictures after he's done drawing--a key element since we're usually away from the house when this is in use. And the fact that he can fasten the big button and elastic closure on the front all by himself (unlike tie closures) is a nice touch. Compact enough to carry with us in his backpack or my purse, it's gotten play in restaurants and doctor's offices. Thus sparing me the drama of corralling an energetic toddler who is tired of waiting.

Available in over two dozen different prints, it's a great item to stock in your gift closet for a last-minute birthday present.

$13 at Bits 'n Pieces, Etc.
Feeling crafty? Buy the coloring wallet pattern for $7

GIVEAWAY! Congratulations to The Allen Family!, winner of a Bits 'n Pieces coloring wallet!
