Dolls + diversity + donations = the perfect toy

While wandering through our local toy store a couple weeks ago, I noticed some beautiful dolls. At 21" tall, they were hard to miss. Amidst the sea of pink that usually overpowers the doll section, it their diverse faces and stylish outfits really stood out.

But I soon learned that there is much more to these Karito Kids. Each Karito Kid comes with a hardcover book which brings their culture and country to life. And as much as I love books, that's not even the best part. When you buy a Karito Kids product, your child has the opportunity to help other children. Three percent of the purchase price is donated through Plan, a charity that works to help children all over the world. Your child receives a special activation code and then gets to choose to donate to one of four children's causes - food, health, homes or school.

So not only will your child get a new friend to play with, she'll also learn about other cultures and get to help children in need. Does buying a toy get any better than this? I don't think so.

Their website is incredibly hard to browse and there is no search or FAQ that I could find anywhere.
