Boutique children's clothing at non-boutique prices

One of the things I like most about shopping handmade is the creativity you discover, stumbling on designers with a unique style or look. Like Portland seamstress Karina Potestio and her shop, Luna. Using her own kids as inspiration, she plays with colorful fabrics and textures to create detailed, fun pieces for children and women.

I'm especially fond of her appliqued bird skirts for little girls. The simple A-line skirt can be paired with a tank for summer, dressed up with tights in the fall, or pulled over a pair of jeans in the winter. And I'm smitten with the bird's button eye and wispy eyelashes that wave in the breeze. Available in sizes 2-8, or made to order (she even has a very pretty adult version).

Also charming is her line of guitar tees, with their corduroy guitar that turns any kid into a wee hipster. A quite cute wee hipster.

And because Luna makes a point of keeping prices affordable, we get to enjoy the creativity of handmade without breaking the bank. Which is a detail I can definitely get behind.

"I just wanted to let you know that I received this product last week and it is SO incredibly adorable! I was going to keep it for myself, but I want to show it off so it might be going to one of my best friends for her baby shower - that way all the moms there can see it. Thank the sponsor for me please! Thanks again!"
