What IS that?!?
Meet the Bilibo.
We've had one of these brightly colored plastic shells in our home for over a year now. Adults see it and ask, "What is that?"
But kids? Kids know just what to do with it. They sit in it and spin themselves silly. They climb atop it like a mountain. They wear it as a helmet. They tuck baby dolls in for a nap. They put it on their back and pretend to be turtles. They roll cars around in its curves. In short, they use their imaginations.
The Bilibo is made of high-density polyethylene (one of the safer plastics) that can be used indoors or out, and comes in a rainbow of colors. I've witnessed kids from toddlerhood through grade school enjoy our Bilibo, each in different ways which match their developmental stage. Even my baby likes to pound on it like a drum.
One watch of the brief video on the Bilibo website shows how inventive children can be when handed a toy which allows for open-ended play. In a world awash with limited-use battery-powered products, the Bilibo entices kids to be active and creative. And that makes this mama's heart happy.
