Cozy cuddly carrier love
I own more baby carriers than I'd like to admit. But my hands-down favorite during the first several months of my daughter's life was the Sleepy Wrap. She spent many a day sleeping, eating and cuddling the hours away inside its soft fabric.
The Sleepy Wrap is essentially a long piece of stretchy, thick, buttery soft cotton. You tie it snugly around your body (there is just one basic tie to learn and even a novice wrapper like me got it right on my first try with the included instructions), then pop in your baby. It's especially designed for the first year of a baby's life and can be used from day one with newborns--even preemies.
There are a number of great things that can be said about the Sleepy Wrap, but these were some of my highlights:
Now that our daughter is much older and heavier, we use more supportive carriers. But when she couldn't sleep the other night, I found myself reaching for our Sleepy Wrap again. Walking around our house with her snuggled into my chest and the fabric wrapped around us like a soft blanket, I remembered why we loved it so much in the beginning.

There are a number of great things that can be said about the Sleepy Wrap, but these were some of my highlights:
- It distributed the weight evenly across my shoulders and back. And it supported my baby's hips and legs (and head, before she could hold it up herself) without putting pressure on her spine. So we were both happy and comfortable being wrapped together for long periods.
- In the winter, I was able to take the baby in and out of the wrap without removing my coat--perfect for running errands.
- I could place baby in several different positions, including cradle, forward-facing and rear-facing.
- It could be washed and dried with the rest of our laundry, no special care needed.
- It works on all sizes and shapes, so my husband and I could share a single wrap.
- I didn't have to think about leaving enough room for the baby when putting it on. As long as I tied it snugly around my body, the fabric's stretch did the rest. In those sleep-deprived early weeks, when I was trying to chase down our toddler while also getting the baby into the carrier, that was a welcome feature!
