Sign me up!

As one of those hip and with-it moms, I had heard of the value of teaching sign language to toddlers. It allows your child to communicate with you before they can talk. Cool. They can communicate their needs through signs instead of tantrums. WAY cool! Sign me up for that. (Get it, "sign" me up.) The hubby, on the other hand, wasn't quite as convinced.

Then a friend gave us a Signing Time DVD. My 9-month old loved watching all of the different children doing the signs and grooving along with the catchy songs. Who knew she was also learning sign language? Until she used her first sign. And her second and third and within a few months, about 50 signs in all. Needless to say, the hubby was sold.
